Started by legendary gallerist Irving Blum and collector Joseph Helman, Blum Helman Gallery first opened its doors in 1972 and rapidly became one of the most important commercial Art venues in New York City. In 1982, Jean Michel Basquiat was included in a summer group show of drawings. Though not a major show, Jean-Michel’s inclusion in such a prestigious “57th street” gallery was significant.
