After meeting Basquiat at Diego Cortez’ “New York/ New Wave” exhibition at P.S. 1, Nosei included the artist’s work in her “Public Address” Group Show in October 1981. On the heels of that show, Nosei offered Jean-Michel his first U.S. solo exhibition at her gallery in March 1982.
Featuring some of his most renowned paintings, this historic show propelled Basquiat to Art World stardom with all of the paintings purportedly selling for prices ranging from $500 for works on paper, up to $7,125 for the painting, Per Capita.
