Formed by Annie Flanders from the ashes of Soho Weekly News, Details magazine was a monthly adoring ode to Downtown New York covering Culture, Current Events and Gossip.
In its 3rd issue, featuring a cover photograph by Bruce Weber, Jean-Michel Basquiat is mentioned twice. First, he is identified as a cigar-dispensing guest at Glenn O’Brien and Barbara Egan’s wedding in Stephen Saban’s column. And Second, as a member of what Cookie Mueller describes as the ‘Automatic Visual Testimonialism’ school of Artists who exhibited in Diego Cortez’ recent show, “The Pressure to Paint” at the Marlborough Gallery.
