Invitation to tina l’hotsky’s ducahmp party
out of stock
Actress, filmmaker and author Tina L’Hotsky was a ubiquitous figure on the Downtown scene. Known as “The Queen of The Mudd Club,” her short-film Barbie (1978) and her self-published book Muchachas Espanola Loca (1978) gained her notoriety and admiration amongst the burgeoning New Wave Art and Club Scene.
In honor of what would have been Marcel Duchamp’s 94th Birthday, L’Hotsky hosted a party/seance to invoke the great Dadaist’s creative spirit. Jean-Michel was known to have dated L’Hotsky and was also an admirer of Duchamp. However, it is unclear why L’Hotsky would specifically single out Jean-Michel for thanks on the exterior of the invitation. Nevertheless, any printed mention of Basquiat from this period is extremely rare.
