Though better known for her representation of Jean-Michel Basquiat, Annina Nosei also showed Keith Haring early on in her famous “Public Address” show in October 1981. With the success of that show, Annina continued to sell works by Keith Haring throughout the early 1980’s.
Presented here is an incredibly rare check signed by Annina Nosei and endorsed by Keith Haring from January of 1982 for the sale of 7 paintings. 9 months before his ground-breaking show at the Tony Shafrazi Gallery, this unique piece of Art History captures an early moment of Haring’s art world ascent, when he still signed his name with an initial “A” for his full name: Keith Allen Haring.
To our knowledge, only 2 similar endorsed checks have appeared on the market in the past 5 years. Such pieces of ephemera are remarkably rare.
