New york/New wave
P.S.1, Long Island City, New York / February 15 - April 5, 1981
Curated by Diego Cortez, New York/New Wave was a groundbreaking show featuring over 100 Artists including Jean-Michel Basquiat. Though largely panned by Art Critics, this radical survey gave institutional validation to the New York Art/Club/Music Scene, paving the way to recognition for many of its Artists. The show included at least 16 paintings and 6 works on paper by Basquiat including “Aaron I” and “Plush Safe He Think.”
